Do you know that most people do not know the full capabilities of the scientific calculator in their hands?
Well, it is the truth and if you are one of them, you have come to the right place.
We are about to start a series where I would be giving out steps to solving different problems on your calculator.
Your calculator can do more than Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. We are talking about solving equations, statistics, distributions and more.
You might have known that a calculator could do them but how to do it was the problem. No worries, we are going to be covering the steps for solving each problem. Focusing on a particular problem for a particular problem per article in order to give you full details.
On this post, I would be talking about how to solve your statistics questions on the CASIO fx-991EX.
This calculator is actually one of my favorites, with its great display and wide range of features that makes it come very handy to any scholar.
Across this series, we would be touching some of this amazing features on the calculator.
To get the solution to your statistics questions on this calculator, you just need to go through four simple steps.
STEP 1:
SHIFT-MENU – ↓- 3
The function of this is for you to choose if your table should have a column for frequency or not. In case you have an ungrouped data or just few numbers. You can easily navigate the table by imputing your x values.
STEP 2:
MENU – 6 – 1
From the default calculator menu, click the menu button and 6 which is where you access the statistics feature.
You are taken to a page where you are given different equations but all you need is the first one (1 – Variable) which you can access by clicking 1.
Now you are shown a table with one column (if your frequency is off) or two columns (if your frequency is on).
STEP 3
INPUT YOUR VALUES
As simple as it sounds!
You just need to input the values of the questions you are given and their frequency if applicable. For grouped data your x is the class interval.
STEP 4
OPTION – 3
After imputing your values, you click on the option key right below your shift key. This brings out a series of options but all you need is the third option which is “1-Variable Calc” and from there you can see the results of your input.
This calculator solves the mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, quartiles, minimum value, maximum value, total frequencies and other parameters.
That concludes the steps needed to solve statistics questions on the Casio fx-991EX.
To see how to solve it on other calculators or how to solve any problem on this calculator, I recommend you follow our series.
If you would like us to drop steps on how to use a particular calculator, feel free to drop your request in the comment section. We would be glad to respond to you.
