Application for the 2024 Zeribe Nwosu Scholarship (ZNS) – Undergraduate to Postgraduate Phase is hereby invited from qualified candidates who are currently enrolled in any undergraduate degree subject in any public Nigerian university or polytechnic.
ONLY YEAR 2 OR YEAR 4 STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP. DO NOT APPLY IF IN YEAR 1, 3, OR 5.
YOUR LETTER OF REFERENCE MUST CLEARLY STATE THAT YOU ARE IN YEAR 2 (IF APPLYING FOR THE YEAR 2 ZNS) OR YEAR 4 (IF APPLYING FOR THE YEAR 4 ZNS). THE LETTER MUST ALSO MENTION THAT YOU WILL STILL BE IN YEAR 2 OR YEAR 4 BY APRIL 1 (THE APPLICATION CLOSING DATE). APPLICANTS WHOSE LETTER DOES NOT ADHERE TO THIS INSTRUCTION MAY BE DISQUALIFIED.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA – FOR YEAR 2 APPLICANTS
Applicant must:
- be in year 2 of undergraduate studies.
- be a student in a public Nigerian university or polytechnic or college of education
- have attained a cumulative grade point aggregate (CGPA) of at least 4* on a scale of 5 in one of the two semesters of Year 1. CGPA of both semesters should be provided.
For polytechnic students or students of universities using 4.0 as scale, a rough conversion of the CGPA to percentage is acceptable. CGPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 or 70% will be considered.
APPLICATION MATERIALS – FOR YEAR 2 APPLICANTS
- A personal statement (1 page).
- CV (1 page – do not include referees).
- One letter of reference on official letterhead from the head of department or dean of studies.
- Unofficial transcripts of year 1 (1st and 2nd semester).
- Undergraduate admission letter. If not available, then reference letter should mention month/year of admission.
- A statement of need, explaining difficulties in funding your studies (min: 100 words, max: 200 words).
Each of the application materials carries its own mark. In addition, applications receive a score for completeness.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA – FOR YEAR 4 APPLICANTS
Applicant must:
- be in year 4 of undergraduate studies.
- be a student in a public Nigerian university, polytechnic or college of education
- have attained a cumulative grade point aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.5* on a scale of 5 (from year 1-3).
For polytechnic students or students of universities using 4.0 as scale, a rough conversion of the CGPA to percentage is acceptable. CGPA of 2.8 out of 4.0 or 70% will be considered. Medical students should present their Year 1 results as well as evidence of achieving “Pass” for the subjects taken in Year 2-3.

- A personal statement (1 page)
- CV (1-2 pages – do not include referees)
- One letter of reference on official letterhead (1-2 pages) from the head of department, dean, or prospective supervisor.
- Unofficial transcripts of year 1-3 academic records.
- Undergraduate admission letter. If not available, then reference letter should mention month/year of admission.
- A statement of need, explaining difficulties in funding your studies (min: 100 words, max: 200 words).
Each of the application materials carries its own mark. In addition, applications receive a score for completeness.
AWARD VALUE
N50,000 each to 10 awardees in Year 2.
N100,000 each to 25 awardees in Year 4.
TIMELINE

June 20 – Applicants informed about the review decision
July 1-20 – Interviews
August 1 – Announcement of the successful candidates
